Chips
Not all poker chips are created equal. Options for chip construction are metal inserted, ceramic, and clay. They differ in a number of ways including cost, look, feel, sound when splashing the pot, and weight, to name a few. It is not uncommon for casinos to use a range of chip types.
Metal insert chips are a durable low-cost solution used by most poker league operators. These are heavy chips with a plastic outer. These chips have very different characteristics to the ceramic and clay options, and are primarily used due to low cost.
Ceramic chips, such as the Desert Sands or Nevada Jacks style chips, are regarded as outstanding high quality chips. They are used in casinos around the world and at World Series of Poker Events. QueenSix chips fall into this category.
Clay chips are also high quality chips. The most recognisable brand of poker chips in this category is Paulson.
