Aces don't scare Mike, he doesn't need a great hand to win!

Mike Devitt won the Dolphin Hotel Poker Grand Final this week, despite starting from a short stack of around one third the size of the largest stack, and surviving against better hands, numerous times.

Devitt was consistently active with calculated aggressive play, and his cards held well in big pots throughout the tournament. This continued when, with four players left, Mike eliminated all competitors with an amazing streak of luck.

With all-in bets early in the hand, Devitt first eliminated Jeff Zhang when he hit a flush on the river (four of the same suit on the board). A few hands later, his pocket fours destroyed Peter Nghiem's pocket aces after all-in pre-flop bets. The comment from Devitt, "I'm not worried". First card out was a four. Finally Devitt sealed the victory when a lucky river card gave him a pair with his four-six, despite Michael Kessey's AK straight flush draw.

Devitt won $310 cash and a Wicked Spades Chipset worth $350, and now qualifies for the Sydney QueenSix Poker Championship Event with 16 players and a cash prize pool in excess of $1100.
