Shrestha /Boundary Hotel win QueenSix Poker Championship Event

David "Harrington Says" Shrestha won the QueenSix Poker Championship Event on Sunday, becoming the second QueenSix Poker Championship Bracelet winner.

A field of 12 players lined up to compete for a prize pool of more than $1,000. This high value game is designed to reward the QueenSix faithful and all 12 deserved to be there. Most notable, Peter Nghiem qualified to defend his title, and 3 of the 12 players were female.

There was a mix of aggressive and conservative play early as players did battle with starting stacks of 8000 in chips. One of the standout performers for the season, Adarsha Rudrappa, with 15 final tables out of 26 games played and winning cash in a staggering 10 games, was a surprising first out.

The battle lasted a few hours before down to the final four players. Evan Morris, David Shrestha, Linzi Bloch and Kelly Robinson.

The stacks were fairly even until Morris pushed too hard on the wrong hand and was taken out. Robinson, who had been the aggressor for most of final table, continued in that manner as the three remaining passed chips around, maintaining similar stack sizes for a long period of time. However, it was Bloch who made a surprisingly large aggressive action, going all-in with pocket jacks. Robinson then made a surprising call for nearly all her chips with AK, leaving it up to the luck of the cards. Fortunately for her, the AK was lucky, and with a full house on the flop, set her as chip leader going into heads-up with Shrestha.

Heads-up was painful to watch as Shrestha slowly ground down Robinson’s stack with some clever aggressive play, and finally took out the tournament.

Shrestha’s win retains the QueenSix Poker Championship Trophy for the Boundary Hotel. From a Season 1-2008 effort of 2 final tables from 8 games, Shrestha’s improvement has been notable for Season 2-2008 with 12 final tables from 22 games and winning cash in 6 games.

QueenSix congratulates Shrestha and the Boundary Hotel on their win.
